Firefly 1.0065 Now Available (with new Computer Vision and Audio Tools)

I am very excited to announce the release of a new build for Firefly, complete with a new suite of tools for computer vision and audio synthesis.  First, I would like to thank Panagiotis Michalatos for his support in the development of many of these new tools.  In addition to his technical help, the latest build of Firefly makes extensive use…

the flying robots are done!

completed shots of Gramazio + Kohler's Flight Assembled Architecture... which, yes, was constructed by flying robots.

does anyone know what they were using to generate the form and control the robots?  I know they've used gh in the past...

Find and Replace in Grasshopper Documents

originally posted here

Since David Rutten added to GH the ability to set a default text panel background color, I’ve had my panels set to be white instead of the default bright yellow. But in all my old definitions, the panels remain yellow, and it drives me nuts. I was going through and changing them manually when it occurred to me that there was a much better way, based on a trick I saw David mention in a…

Array in a step and rotate method

Dear Experts - or probably even beginners? . . . I am a complete newbie and am completely boggled! I have tried a million things but can't seem to crack this (probably) super simple problem.

I want to array a square along an arc (or a circle) - I have managed to get this far quite easily - but the square needs to rotate around its own axis by 90degrees (see scrnshot). I cant figure out how to create the "step and rotate" function. I only manage to rotate all the squares the same angle…

clusters are cool

Today I did a little bit of rework on an older project which was about quadtree illustrations. I stumbled upon the cluster input/output in the params tab. Wonderful..clusters are exactly what I was waiting for. Not just because they tidy up the canvas but also prevent the geek in me from messing up the production schedule by parameterizing for hours, days or weeks. Clusters are somewhat final. You wrap em up and go ahead.…

Parking Generator (working definition)

This definition is sloppy at the moment and needs a lot of work.  The parking counts are not accurate (it counts lines instead of spaces) and the generating spaces need work as well.

I'm posting the progress though in case anyone wants to check it out.

port of Robert Penner's easing equations

It was roundabout 2002, Macromedia Flash was quite en vogue these days and the interconnection between algorithms and new visual experiences was virgin territory for thousands of designers. At this time I also got in touch with a set of easing formulas for the first time. Dunno where Robert originally got it from, but this set rapidly spread over the whole Flash-community and pushed (action)script-based animations to another…
