Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello All,

We (exlab.org) are running a design-make workshop in a few months and are investigating potential CADCAM processes for the workshop to focus on. The idea is to constrain the workshop as much as possible to a specific material, CAM process and brief in order to push the creative construction potential of design tools like rhino and grasshopper. So the question is: What industry fabrication processes do you feel may have some untapped potential if hijacked by parametric design techniques or new material applications? Have you attended or run workshops in the past that explored similar themes and could suggest ways to extend on them?

Right now we are looking at CNC Wire forming - a process commonly used to make things like shopping carts, baskets, racks and coat hangers.

Does anyone have any knowledge in this process or ideas for applications?
