Outstanding Andy, great job!
Great work Andy! I've been wanting an movie sampler for a while. I was hoping that LOLCats would transform into something useful but this is even better.
Thanks for all the kind words. @NAN - yes, a true z-depth map would be ideal... and you could certainly use the kinect for this distance information. It's something on my list of things to implement in the future... I've just been focusing on these tools first. @Kenneth - are you asking whether or not you could get depth information from a regular web cam? Or are you asking is skeleton tracking possible with a simple web cam (and not a kinect). In either case, it would be pretty difficult to pull off. There is a lot of bells and whistles included in the Kinect (software and hardware) that would be very difficult to pull off with a standard web cam. More than likely, it would be impossible to replicate fully with a standard web cam, because you lack the depth information that the infrared sensor on the kinect gives you.
this is fantastic! Great work, Andy!
Very Cool! I am wondering if it is possible to simulate the function of an xbox kinect simply by using a webcam and firefly.
Super cool.... looking forward to the release.
Thanks again for your contributions to the growing tool set.
excelente!!!, tiene muchas posibilidades para el diseño arquitectónico y escenográfico...felicitaciones :)
Fantastic. What about kinect connection to get the real Z-depth map?
Thanks Andy,
Up until now I have sat on the sidelines fascinated by Firefly and what you are doing, but never take that step to "play" with what it can do. Mainly due to the un-work related nature of it for me. But with these vision tools I can install guilt free. Here's what I would do with it: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/new-image-galleryimage-sa...
There will be video input (AVI, MPEG) as well... but I haven't had a chance to implement it yet. That's one of the things I'd like to do before I release it.
