Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

This is the first release of Gismo.
Gismo is a small penguin, meant to be used to assist with GIS related tasks in Grasshopper and Rhino.
At the moment there is modest amount of only 16 components. I hope this number will grow in future. Currently available features are:

1) Creation of 2d or 3d context for any kind of building related analysis: automatically generate the 2d/3d surrounding buildings for the location where you would like to perform visibility, solar radiation, cfd or any other type of analysis. You need some other plugin for the last three, like Ladybug. It only creates the context=surroundings!
The "automatic generation" process also includes creation of the local topography (terrain) along with buildings.

2) Identification of certain 2d or 3d elements in the created context. For example: selection of all hotels, parks, hospitals, restaurants, residential buildings etc.

3) Performing direct terrain analysis (hillshading, slope, ruggedness, roughness, water flow...)

4) Creation of terrain shading masks and horizon files for further solar and photovoltaics analysis.

Gismo will be very grateful if he could get any suggestions, improvements, bug reports and testing in the following period. In case you are willing to provide any of these, the requirements, installation steps and .gh example files can be found herehere and here.

Thank you in advance !!

Thank you Igor!!
I would be grateful for any kind of testing!

Its So Just Glamorous, and you make the life so easy for researcher as usual bro.

Big Thanks

i test it and its working pretty but am confused little regarding Sample file "color_the_buildings"

i face a bug at TerrainGenerator stated that

1. Solution exception:Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Users\rafat\AppData\Roaming\Ladybug\elevation.txt'.

ladybug dose not have a folder at C drive or at Roaming folder its user objects at c:~\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\UserObjects

Hi Rafat,

Thank you for your kind words, and for taking your free time to test the components!!

The error that you are having is related with Ladybug component. I haven't made that one, so I will try to see if I can help you.

I replaced that Ladybug component with the newest one, and set the Ladybug defaultFolder_ to "c:\ladybug".

Can you download the example file again from here, and see it the same error appears again, please?

Its great bro, but i have some comments

1- it must that Rhino model in meter unite to allow the OSM works great,

2- OSMshapes module - the radius option when it comes to 1000 give an error due to high resolution

with all of this its working perfect from each perspective.

Hi Rafat,

1) All Gismo components support different unit systems. So the units can be set to feet, centimeters... as well.
However in this particular case, to create the terrain we are using Ladybug "Terrain Generator" component. There is some discrepancy between this component's units and the way Gismo handles units.
I need to speak with Ladybug component author about this.
Until that happens, "Meter" units will have to be used to avoid problems. Peter had an issue in this topic with "Milimeter" units.

2)

OSMshapes module - the radius option when it comes to 1000 give an error due to high resolution

When that error happens, can you post a screenshot of the Panel leaving from the "OSM shapes" "readMe!" output?

Thank you.
