algorithmic modeling for Rhino
hi
i have question
how can i add origami pattern on surface?
Hi Behnam,
You have to draw out your origami in flat, convert it to mesh, draw valley and mountain folds using lines, and then put it all through the same definition as I did (see link in the original post). Alternatively, you can also define your own folds on the surface with Kangaroo hinge forces. Simpler origamis can be modelled with simple rotation and mirroring technique, but it quickly gets very complex. Also, origami patterns cannot take any shape of the surface. It is usually better to model the surface from bottom up i.e. first making the pattern, applying forces and see what shape comes out.

By looks the latest Kangaroo has a ghuser file for origami that is similar to the definition (using Hinge forces) but packaged differently. I will post an update soon.
There is an example of how to use the new origami ghuser object here:

Thanks, Daniel!
