How to Color gradient a surface depending on its height variations?

I have a surface obtained from series of contour lines. The surface has ups and down and i want to represent those height variations in colours. Say higher regions will be in red, and lower in blues. Is there a way to do that using GH?

Please help

Yeah, with meshes.

Hi i got the rest except for the band of colours. Could you tell me how to get that in GH please. Thanks

Params->Special->Gradient.

I would never had the idea of using meshes for the job.

Thanks Sistemiq

your very first component Fails, because you are trying to use a mesh (your Input from Rhino) as a Brep and then mesh that...

Just plug the mesh Parameter into the mesh decompose component.
