Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone Kangaroo question:

I have been using springs and plaw to cluster balls.  I've noticed that as the difference between radii values increases (ie balls are of more dramatically different sizes), they don't cluster correctly (for some variation, it still works, but once balls get really dramatically different it stops working as well). I've attached a screenshot (the black is the starting geometry, the red is post-clustering). Does Kangaroo just not handle different radii very well or am I doing it wrong?

Thanks!

The problem was the way you combined the radii.

Here is the easy way to do it:

(note the "LowerStrict" data matching option on the Cross-reference component - this is something I requested and described here, which is now part of Grasshopper, that simplifies this sort of interconnection of points)

hm....different but still not right...?
