algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone,
I am in architecture school and earlier in the semester I attempted to use ELK to get a head start on my site analysis. I realized early on that something was not working with the Topography. What I realized was that because NASA SRTM files are packaged by a specific latitude and longitude, ELK does not seem to be able to handle a site that has a latitude line that goes right through it. Is there any kind of work around for this other than bringing in two separate files and attempting to stitch it together?

Right now you'll have to bring in two files and stitch them together. The points along the edge of one tile should match the points along the matching edge.
The HGT files only contain elevation data, with no indication in the file as to what tile it represents. It could probably be written to stitch multiple files together, but you'd have to rely on people not renaming the HGT files since that would be the only way to figure out which tile is which. Stitching the files together shouldn't be too difficult though.
Tim,
This is great! Thanks for the response and the definition!
