Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello all

I have been away from Grasshopper for a while and as with higher math don't use it LOOSE IT and my skills have dropped

Here is what I am trying to do I have spent two day trying to get this going.  I have a rectangle shaped surface i want to pull a single point on that surface along the Z axsis the point I can move and I can move the point along the Z axsis but getting the surface to "stretch" i am lost.

Help please.

why pull point componenet does'nt pull the point toward the inside of a surface (for example half sphere)

I would like to have the surface pulled to the point but the edge stay at 0 on the Z axis here is the grasshopper script

So you want the surface to bulge up and intersect the point while all 4 edges remain on the 'floor'?

yes exactly but to a sharp point

Like a pyramid? This is why a sketch would have been helpful :)

think of it as a piece of rubber on a wood frame and I use a small stick to push the rubber.  the sample you send is very close.  I think it would look like a tensile tent.

thank you

It's quite difficult to create a surface with a sharp tip on the interior.

The above clearly doesn't quite work...

Yes it is difficult I have been working on this for over two days  you have pretty much solved the problem by putting a radius on the corners.

Thank you

I still never found the patch command when I load the file you send it gets stripped when I open it.  I am missing it.

You probably have an old version of GH then. Patch was added fairly recently.

If you want to create something like a tensile tent you can use the Kangaroo plugin (http://www.food4rhino.com/project/kangaroo). See attached.
