Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear David,

Would it be feasable to add an iteration counter to components in grasshopper? I suspect this will make the concept of structure and datatrees a lot easier to comprehend for new users.

At this moment I find myself explaining students that structure or trees in fact matter because it influences the way a component is executed and how many times it is executed.

It can make the comprehension of something like a polyline from branches of points a lot easier:

"Look, it gets executed now 10 times, because there are 10 branches, but it does not work, because each time we only have one point."

Thanks,

Arend

Ah, good idea. That'll be easy to implement.

Nice addition.

Is there any chance this could fit with reviving this suggestion?:

Does Escape still not work? It would be the ideal solution to this problem so I would like to make sure you can always escape out of a solution. The only real problem is if you start a Solid Boolean operation on 64500 breps, that is a single function call from GH's point of view so there's no way to bail out in the middle of it.

Nice! This opens up the possibility to explain that grasshopper is one big looping machine, and takes out some of the 'magic' of the looping!

Thanks a lot.
