algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi,
I had some headaches last week trying to panel a sphere surface, and I remembered the Mesh Sphere from square patches, and decided to make a surface one. This is just a test, and that means it could be improved somehow. It is "smoother" than the Mesh Sphere, but I have the feeling this isn't the "right" way to do it.
Then I bake it and rebuild the surfaces Pt4Dg3, and here is the result:
But I wonder if there is a way to make something like this (which seem to be the "right" way to do it):

Try weaverbird.
For the blue picture use: LEFT=teraeder, MID=cube, right=dodecaeder divide faces to your liking, and then project to a sphere.
There are many example defs if you google the forum.

I'll liked your sugestion, thank you. But even with Weaverbird still is a aproximation of the sphere, I couldn't find a way to make a perfect and continuous sphere from nurbs surfaces, a mathematicaly "right" sphere, if there is such a thing.

Using Lunchbox to generate the polyhedras its nice, thank you.
But my main intention is to creathe the sphere like in the image I made (the one with the blue sphere I found on the web), I wanted to know if there is a more accurate approximation than mine, or even a mathematicaly perfect way to do it.
Thanks taz! I can make very good aproximations, and the solids alone provide excelent pattern possibilities!
I still wonder on the possibility to draw a "perfectly round" sphere from square patches, but that really solve my patternig questions, thanks again.
