Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am having trouble to connect the points in a specific way that i want. I cant come out with a logic to work. Any help?

The Rhino file is want i wanted to achieve. The grasshopper file is the point i created.

Hi Skyduo,

I haven't got much time to develop this further, but maybe you or someone else could use it to get a different idea about how to create the points in a structured way so that you can use the [Relative Item] component to create the "specific connectivity" you are after.

Hi Danny,

Thank you so much for the fast reply. I will go try it out~!

Here is a revamped version with interconnected double layers

Hi Danny,

Thank you so much for the script. However, could you give a short explanation regarding this logic? I dun really understand why this works. How did you make them connect specifically?

Pardon me as i am still learning to use grasshopper as much as i can.

Thank you again.

Sky

Hi Sky,

Here you go. I hope it helps. There is some fairly advanced Path and Data Management going on here, but as you can see once you master that aspect of Grasshopper you can do some very interesting things with fewer components.

The goal for this definition was to be able to divide one sphere a certain way, but then repeat the process for a second sphere without having to the same components all over again.

hallo danny,

it's nice that you're back in forum.

i have nearly a similar question to you,
and think and hope that Skyduo even interested in it.

i want to know how the grid variants have been created.
-> as seen in pict 5

there are some trying with karamba, kangaroo and spiderweb
but ultimately not the desired goal.

you'll get the crown back!

thanks

Hey Rassul,

Nice to be back!

I think that this is an iterative problem which goes beyond Native Grasshopper. I can see a logic to it, but it's probably more time than I can give at the moment.

I keep it on the back burner and see If I can make something meaningful

EDIT: Isn't this up Rabbit's street. L-Systems etc

Danny

hi danny,

i have asked about this, and found out
that it has been created with processing or mel scripting.
but no more ...

the idea behind this is obviously optimization.

but if imagine that certain points in the grid act as attractors,
and the existing points of the lines be pull to the attractors points, that could be a starting point for further deliberation?

but you're right, some how it reminded of something like leaf venation.

but i'm sure you can conjure up something.
