algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello everyone,
I'm new to grasshopper and I'm trying to hook up a midi controler in order to be able to control some sliders.
I've seen some posts about this topic but due to my lack of programming skills, I haven't been able to connect my controller to GH... Where should I start?
Best regards.

Here's the definition as it is. Sorry there are no comments or anything but it's simple enough.
The VB component outputs a list of 88 values that correspond to the intensity of each piano key at the current time (if the pedal is on and a key is depressed the value is halved, if the pedal is off the value is 0).
The rest of the definition is just to do something with this data. It uses these values to display each note as different floating colors that move with the wind (using Kangaroo). The strength of the wind changes as the music dynamics change.
If there are several devices connected you might have to change the line device.Open(0) to another number.
(to be displayed with a black background)
And here's a real time capture of the viewport:
This is you playing? :D In the other hand, nice component :)
Yes, my gf made me do it... I'm still learning I can only play children songs.
xD heehehe, nice :)
Very nice Vicenete,
We want more of these children songs! :)
I posted a new version of the definition at http://www.grasshopper3d.com/video/midi-to-grasshopper
...and another children song (well, it's from an animated film but it's PG-13).
Hey guys,
This topic is linked by Luis as a main one addressing aspect of physical sliders, so I will join the discusion. I was working on this topic for some time. I was trying to create as transparent as possible MIDI -> Grasshopper workflow. Today I published a Proof of Concept version. Please check Mandrill at:
http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/mandrill-midi-realtime-br...
At the same time I would like to ask you to take some time to test my code and give support. I'd like to ask Roderick to test it - you have a LPD8 just load my LPD8 profiles and Mandrill will work 100% out of the box. It works with all physical MIDI controllers with nearly no config, but it can also work with any CoreMIDI smartphone app (eg. free MidiMonitor for iPhone)
Welcome to
