Here is an example, though I can't manage to sort the points out to make the curve. There are also some nice references in Mathematica.

I was having a headache trying to sort out the points. In the end all that was needed to sort the points out was fix the domain from 0 to 2Pi. If the domain goes beyond 2 Pi, the points will disarrange themselves.

I sadly can't open the grasshopper definition because I have an older version. Once I get the new one I will give it a shot and see what it is
