the "Match Paths" component from the Tree Frog Utilities available here: http://www.food4rhino.com/project/hdtutils

will allow you to assign the original tree structure to the M output of the create set component.

I prefer not to manage too many plugins if I can avoid it.  If you want to achieve the same thing native to grasshopper, just use member index and then shift paths to get what you want.
