Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey guys,

I'm working on a design for a column to be constructed this week. In one part of my definition i'm using a Graph Mapper. I have a problem though, i need both handles to be exactly on opposite positions on the graph so that i get the exact same values for both sides of the column. I placed the points in somewhat similar positions on the graph but i'm still not satisfied.

I was wondering if there is anyway i can set specific values for the handles in the Mapper component to achieve that. Or even bypass the whole thing with some other components! I'm sure the definition is not the best but it works for now. Thanks for your help

Only linear type allows for a manual input of eqation values in the graph editor (via double click) GraphMapper is limited to visual precision.

In your case you map the range so that only half of it is within the valid graph range and put them both identical graphs. This will be limited to uneven "lateral divisions" as you cannot split an uneven set of values in equal halves.

Thanks a lot mate that was helpful, although it's a pity you can't set precise values for the graph mapper.

If you really need precision, it is not very hard to draw a curve in rhino and use it in similar way.

f(x)=intersection of the vertical line passing through (x,0,0) and the curve.
