Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I've posted a couple queries, but I'm trying to learn more about using MIDI with Grasshopper in Windows 7.  Seems like Firefly and/or gHowl is the way to go, but I'm still pretty new to Grasshopper and have no programming experience.  Seems like most of the threads are pretty old, so I was wondering if there were any new developments.  I have a CME Bitsream 3x midi controller that I finally got windows to recognize and receive MIDI, but I'm not having any luck finding a MIDI to OSC (or other code) converter online.  I also just realized that I needed to fix the Firefly 64 vs 32 issue, so that may be part of the problem.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your inquiry.  To be honest, I'm not sure I can be of much help here.  I don't own a MIDI board and I've never tried hooking one up through Firefly.  If the board communicates through OSC, then I would say you could likely use either Firefly or GHowl (since they both have a OSC listener component)... but again, I don't have much experience.

As for the 64-bit vs 32-bit problem... this is going to be solved very soon.  I've got a new release which fixes this issue and I hope to release it in the next day or two (complete with a new installer).  Stay tuned.

Cheers,

Andy

Thanks Andy. I think what you are doing with FireFly is absolutely amazing.  Whether or not I can get this MIDI thing to work, I think I'm going to start playing with Audrino next.  Thanks for all your work you've put in to it.

Thanks Mark!
