hexagon structure

I would like to do something similar the image above with parametric control over the size and density of the surface using attractor points. Then I would like to build it with certain thickness. 

The following is what I have so far but I would prefer to develop a mesh of hexagons and apply hexagonal components. 

I am beginner to grasshopper and rhino. I really appreciate your help.
