algorithmic modeling for Rhino
i wrote this definition that will take all of your named views and write out a native Maya file with maya cameras that match your named views. the maya cameras are named the same as your named views in rhino. i wrote this in a grasshopper component for other reasons but the code can be used for a native rhino script function if you just want a button in rhino (i should have done it in python now that i think of it!)
the main reason for this is that i often like to composite line work on top of renders to make make composite drawings and having matched cameras in the two programs is nice. i am finishing up a python script for maya that goes the other way (maya cameras to named views in rhino) but its not done yet.
this will be rolled into the next version of cerver tools but here is the raw component
Enjoy!

Here are the individual steps with words!
01 create geometry in rhino
02 set view in rhino
03 name your view in rhino
04 open grasshopper in rhino
05 download robert cervellione camToMaya
06 drag the ghx file to grasshopper canvas
07 change the FLoc
08 save rhino-geometry to your FLoc
09 toggle the boolean switch to get the maya file in your FLoc
10 open maya 2012
11 import testCamera in maya
12 AND IT DOES NOT WORK!
HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP (-;
here is the rhino file!
also i will upload the new script that is bi-directional so you can take maya cameras into rhino
i just added a video showing how it works. you can find see it here

i hope this helps!
hi robert,
many thanks for the video tutorial.
Unfortunately, it still does not work.
have you tried this already with rhino 4?
thanks
ok i dusted off rhino 4 and it does not work in rhino 4. i assume it has to do with the fact that named views in rhino 5 got overhauled. i will try to find time to fix it for rhino 4 but i would just recommend downloading rhino 5. there is no reason not to use it.
hi robert,
many thanks for your effort.
maybe you're right, that should look forward (rhino 5).
it also sounds very interesting,
that in rhino 5 fbx export is possible.
by the way, if you export with fbx in rhino 5,
is it possible to select y or z axis.
many thanks again.
Hello Robert
I doanload the definition but I don't know how it works, How can I import a set view in Grasshopper ??
Best
Any chance to get this exporting cameras as a .3ds or .obj file format?
Welcome to
Grasshopper
