Any idea of this? I have a building in grasshopper and a mesh that I use with geco. I also have some parameters connected to galapagos. I made some solar protections for the windows and I want to find with galapagos and geco the best sizes of those solar protections. What galapagos do is to test many solutions until find the best solar grid. The problem is that I need to erase the solar protections in ecotect using geco until galapagos try new sizes of the solar protections.

Is it possible in any way to get ecotect feedback from a simulation that takes longer than 5 minutes?
I have a pretty complex analyse grid that can't be calculated in 5 minutes.

When I export geometry from Grasshopper to Ecotect, I have some problems with the triangulation of surfaces (see the picture). The facades are working fine (normally) with the MeshUV command and then into Geco. But the 'roof' or any horizontal plane is difficult, since it won't show in ecotect (only U, V directions). Here I solved it by having the roof surfaces selected with a Brep command, followed by a Mesh Brep command. The problem is that it gets triangulated (which does not make that much sense in real life). I modelled this geometry also in Ecotect and there it can be one surface. Is there a way to go around the triangulation or export in another way to ecotect through grasshopper? Thanks, Jouri

Oh I forgot to include that in my previous question:
would it be possible to have two instances of the 'export mesh to ecotect' simultaneously? I tried it, but it only took the last instance.
The reason behind this is that I would like to solar analyse for instance a building block in the middle of an urban environment. I would like to have one instance of the 'export mesh to ecotect' with the building selected, and one instance with the surrounding environment selected- In that way, the surrounding buildings are exported and they will cause shading on the building block, but won't be taking into account in the solar radiation analysis. If you only export the building block to Ecotect, then it won't take into account the surroundings.

I have a problem...
I figured out, from Your examples, how to selectively calculate a points grid in ecotect, leaving out the urban morphology meshes out of the calculation, and then apply the values back in grasshopper... However, as I've seen this only applies to lighting calculation...
While trying to do the insolation calculation, where the weather file plays an important role, I see that ecotect does calculation for the entire imported mesh and not over a selective grid of points as in the latter... Also, I've noticed that the insolation, even if the neighboring height is vast, is still pretty high and the same as the edge of the analysis grid. I hope You understand... Also it can not be mapped in grasshopper in the same manner as the previous one...
Can this be overcome somehow, since I've read that there is no component that supports selective calculation.

This is due to a ecotect bug sorry
I'm doing these calculations in galapagos, I need it to be automated... I'm not able to do it manually, since the point of the automated process is therefore lost... So, You can't help me?
you just have todo it once than it is set in ectotect to just calculate the selected object
than you can aslo use galapagos
Can you provide me with information on how to do this? I do not get around ecotect as well as grasshopper
