Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all!

I created a pathway/road by lofting two curves i generated from the gaussian graphmapper. Im controlling the width of the pathway with very basic controller curves. The path sits planar on xyplane at the moment so i want to adjust and control the height without distorting it.

I tried adjusting the vectors that move the points of the curve, but it distorts the pathway/road. i also wanted to make the path curve a bit like a ramp. Heres a pretty badly sketched elevation i drew.

It would probably be real easy to model this in rhino, but i want to control these curves in GH.

Heres the ghx/3dm files attached as well as the diagram. Pls leave me heaps of suggestions!

Hey Chan Chan!

Have you tried dividing the curve and then adding pcomp (decompose) component to get the y values of the curve and perhaps controlling it using a graph mapper? Graph mapper might not work actually. But you could cull the values. Just one of my dodge ideas. Anyway, I resorted to rhino curves!

Hey Ra! i attempted to decompose the translated points, but no luck...
Whoops! I meant z values haha.

But dayum.
Unless I've got the wrong end of the stick, I think you are using the Cross Product Component incorrectly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Right_hand_rule_cross_product.svg
If you want to change their Height why not use a Z Vector. Vector>Constants>Unit Z

But I can't talk cause up till a week ago I never even knew it was there.
Oh i have found the solution- and it was so annoyingly simple. i added another move component that moved it in the z-vector direction and used a graph mapper to control it.
...eureka!

thanks guys!
