Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm having difficulties loading the plugin. I'm running Rhino v5 64-Bit and Rhino v4 SR9, neither of which load the sdr plugin. I attached an image of the error message I get. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have spoke with Jon and he's unable to pin point the source of my issue.

I'm about to email you some diagnostic builds to hopefully help us troubleshoot.  If anyone else is experiencing loading issues, please let me know.

Hi, Jon

I took a close look at your installing guide, I cannot find the file called "ggImportIFC.rhp"; did miss some installation steps? When I type "sdrLoadToolbars", they give me some messages shown at the second picture. Still nothing is added on grasshopper window. What should I do?

Can you please post a screenshot of the dialog when you run the Rhino command GrasshopperDeveloperSettings as per my post in the other thread?

Hi, Jon

Attached picture is the window after I run GrasshopperDeveloperSetting.

Thanks, that is correct.

The GH version is masked in your screenshot, but by the XForm menu it seems that you have an older version.  SDK breaks means that the earliest compatible grasshopper is 0.8.0050.  Is there a reason you can't update to the latest?

Hi, Jon

For some reason I couldn't install the newest version GH on my Rhino. The error message is on the attached Picture. I downloaded MS Runtime, Visual C++, ... nothing helped. And then I found an older version which worked with Rhino, but now has problem to install Geometry Gym and StructDrawRhino...

What should I do?

The error message is different, but my first suspicion is this.

Have you installed the 32 bit run time?

Hi Suzy

I hope we get this fixed soon. Could you please check that you have the latest version of Rhino 5 installed?

Thanks,

- Giulio

Hi, Giulio

The Rhino I am using is Rhino 5.0 WIP (64-bit). After dragging GrasshopperPlugin.rhp, following the picture attached above, is the message:

Unable to load GrasshopperPlugin.rhp plug-in: application initialization failed. NOTE: Plug-ins built for 32 bit Rhino will not load in 64 bit Rhino

I believe I've installed already MS Runtime 32bit.

Thank you

Suzy

Hi Suzy,

In the FAQs discussion about installing on Rhino 5 the last part is about if the easy way fails:

If the above doesn't work, you may need to copy the entire Grasshopper plugin folder into the Rhino 5.0 Plug-ins folder before loading it using the same steps outlined above. Note that once you manually copy the files, they will not be uninstalled or updated automatically either.

I have done copy too...  I copied entire GH folder from Rhino 4 to Rhino 5; still come up the same error I stated above. :(

Hi again Suzy,

could you post a screenshot of your Rhino 5 version?
You need to ask you to please make sure you have at least May 8, 2012 version of Rhino 5. Thanks,

- Giulio
