algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi @ll,

what would be the best way to simulate bending behaviour of a reet stick ?

i thought about bending behaviour of a fishing rod.

is there a way of simulating different sections for their bending behaviour in kangaroo/karamba ?

thanks !

well, it won't really handle sectionally-specific bending properties. But a general bending resistance is possible in kangaroo with the "bend" force. Here's a pretty simple example, maybe you can adapt it to do something closer to the specific behavior you're after.

hey andrew !

thanks for your answer and def. share.

i did a quite similar def with kangaroo which give some info, but i assume that they are best models for kind of homeogeneous rods/sticks.

im trying to figure out how the packing of some rods are behaving

http://www.google.at/search?q=circle+packing+hexagonal&oe=utf-8...

so the geometry of section is crucial i think.

so back to some real life testing ;-)

thanks again for your def and help

Since Kangaroo is more approximation for me, I know its not.

If you are not looking for precise, absolute calculation. I would apply a series of different bending (resisting) strength to the series of line segments.

side note: I definitely tried clicking the side of the image to unselect the definition ;)

ha!

please do not post images with selected components, its frustrating ;)
