curve, line or possible other object as attractor

Hi Everybody. Just wondering if it possible to use line polyline curve etc as attractor object, in addition to using points.

Sure, attractors are distance based. You can always calculate a distance to any curve (usually to the curves closest point). If you want curve to curve distances, things get more complicated. This usually boils down to some kind of sampling of the curves.

Hi Hannes, thanks for the reply. I was thinking more of the potential for a curve or line's length as a localized field to effect attractor response  rather than a point (or closest point). So maybe that is the real question : are there field attractors as opposed to point attractors. origionaly I was thinking of the definition for a line that considers a line to have a start and end point with unlimited number of point in between.

 

Thoughts?

curve attractors a pretty simple see here. http://formularch.blogspot.com/2012/04/gh-line-attract-repel.html also, if its length or proximity another way could be to put a bounding box around a curve and test points / objects for inclusion and only effect those objects in or outside of that box.
