Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone:

I recently switched to Rhino 5 (and removed Rhino 4) however trying to update/install the latest Grasshopper build and the installer error I get is: "Rhino 4 not installed on this machine”.

Is there any way to install Grasshopper onto Rhino 5 without having to reinstall Rhino 4 and going through the cut paste rhp method?

Thanks,

Hi Monique,

I'm afraid the installer requires Rhino4 to be available. It is not necessary, in fact, Grasshopper doesn't really need installing at all, it would work if you just copied the files and loaded the plugin manually. However for this you need all the files without the installer, which currently isn't available online.

Maybe someone is willing to go through the trouble to upload all the files inside the ProgramFiles\Rhino4\Plug-ins\Grasshopper folder you'll be set, but you'll need to goad someone into doing this for you for every new release you want.

Haven't tried that but what about renaming the Grasshopper directory and reinstalling. Then just drag the appropriate directory to Rh5 and rename again?

One thing to keep in mind thoug: soem plugins register in a special way. Like weaverbird and KARAMBA. Those cannot be simply copied that way.
