Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

The mantis doesn't work after installing Mathematica!!?

Hello.

First, thank you to share this great tool. I want to try 'mantis' asap,

but,in grasshopper 0.7.0057 & 0.8.0003 , Rhino v4, the mantis doesn't work.

In detail, Icons appear on panels(at 'Extra' tab), and when I open example .ghx file, the boolean switch isn't connected with input parameter of mantis. Whether I toggled to true or false, it failed.

I expect your answer.  Cheers.

Thanks for the speedy reply.  I put the .dll file that you just gave me and put it in the grasshopper components folder.  It's still giving me the same error.

Is it supposed to work just by putting it in the components folder?  Or do I have to do something in Mathematica to tell it to communicate to grasshopper?

So I realized I hadn't "unblocked" the dll file.  I have a new error now.  It says "1. Solution Exception: Error Code: 1. Mathlink connection was lost."  Progress! But I still don't know how to fix this...

are you sure that you installed mathematica correctly-try to open mathematica-

Yeah--I already opened Mathematica and played with it a little.  Any other options?

sorry for asking a lot of varied non cyclical questions -> what is the version of grasshopper do you have and try another version (may be there is a conflict)

I have the latest version--8.0052

till now i can`t find why!!?? but i want to ask what is Windows7(bootcamp)?

Bootcamp a thing on mac computers where you can partition your hard drive and install windows 7 on it.  It shouldn't affect this, though--It's a legitimate version of Windows 7

Do I need to have Mathematica open in a new document in order to use Mantis?

no you don't have to open mathematica document-mantis is based on linking with mathematica kernel automatically- please try to install it on other computer (just for you to be sure) something else i had remembered, i didn't try mantis with rhino5 just tried it with all gH versions & mathematica 7-8 and Rhino4 sr8-9.

really weird-please inform me with any news

Good news!  I finally got it to work!  It could be either...

1.  I had mathematica open the whole time, and so this was the first time i tried opening Mantis without having an open document in Mathematica. (this is the most likely solution)

2.  When I installed Mantis, I copied the gha and the dll file from the download file, so there were two copies of both files at the same time--and I just deleted the other copies--now the only copy is in the components folder.

Thank you so much for being so attentive, and staying with me through this! I almost gave up!  It's working fine on Rhino 5 and GH 8.0052.  A new version of GH just came out...8.0061, but I think I'll wait to install it until after I finish my project with Mantis.  Unless you say it's okay.

It's working fine now, but I keep getting a "GH Breakpoint" message each time I try to change a slider.  The outcome works--it'll listen to the slider, but this message keeps popping up.  Is that normal?
