Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello!

I'm a student of architecture, in Barcelona. We are doing the uses relationship model of the project through Grasshopper. This model is like a diagram with different criteria of each one.

The purpose of this is the sum with another model wich we have already done in CAD o Rhino before. The sum ( a mix between both models), has to associate the new model done in Grasshopper into the other model, I mean, the first model in Rhino should deform following the new model.

For example, my new model in grasshopper is a serial of points which come of circles intersections. Now i wanna fit the old model into this new one.

The old model, in Rhino, is in 2d, and it is, basically, a rectangle with some differents irregular shapes inside. My purpose is adapt this shapes inside according to the position of the points of the diagram done in Grasshopper.

How can I do this? I don't know how I can associate those shapes with the new points.

Thank you!

You need to post some files.  It's too difficult to grasp your project and provide some suggestions for a solution from the words alone.

ok, sorry but before I couldnt post files cos the internet doesn't work well. I've made, in a simple way the things I try to solve. In rinho's file there are a rectangle with some shapes inside it. In grasshopper's file, there are seven points wich I wanna join with the shapes of the rectangle, and as a result, I'd like that the rhinos drawing fit to the position of the points, I mean, the rhinos drawing has to be deformed following the position of the points.

Thank you very much.

Manuel,

Is this what you're trying to do?

Chris

Yes, this is the basic concept that I didn't know, but there are more things and the situation is more complicated, and I think I will have to do it "by hand", because the apparently random points is the result of a very large process, and the separation of them is the percentage of the time that I want it to have. The total time, is that, 100%, is in fuction of the distance (in meters); the total distance is 144 m (and the time is the result of the division 144/1.4 because 1.4 is the general speed in m/s of people walking. So, my rectangle, wich measures one hectare and the longest side is 144, in my file, can change the measures with a slider, always keeping his area.

Then, apart of this, the shapes inside the box, would have to deform, in fuction of the program's area... etc etc. Anyway, thank you Chris for solve my doubts.

I'm still confused as to what is meant to be happening here.

I throw this out there which might be a hit or miss but it might give you some ideas.

yes!perfect! It has been a good example! The only thing that I would like to change is, that, instead of deform that following the control points on the surface's perimeter, I would like to deform all, with points in the shapes (in the middle of the circle for example). It is because I want, for example, the biggest circle in point 2, and the smaller circle in point 7. So, is it possible to do?

Summing up, is do the same, but changing the control points, putting them on the shapes (circles) instead the perimeter.

Thank you very much Danny and Chris, you are being really useful for me!

Thanks! Manuel
