algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Is there any way to have the Python Unroll script also unroll curves on the surface like the Rhino command allows?

Thanks for the response!

Hi Gabrielle,

Here is a definition that should get you started.

Thanks,

Hey Steve!

Thanks for this... I'm going to test it out now!

Gabs

So I have a group of cylinders with a line stricken along the length of the apex from one end of the tube to the other. I plugged those lines into the "curve" input, but they aren't coming in correctly. In the unrolled cylinders, the lines are not showing up the point that would be the top of each cylinder.
Actually... I may have solved it... I'm checking now.
Good to go! Thanks again!

Gabby! hey, I'm trying this python unroll component but I'm getting errors with my geometry. Did you get the error: "more than one surface resulted from the unroll"

This file is working great, however It is not very convenient. all the unrolled surfaces are in the same place. It will take ages to move them individually. They are not labelled.

Do you have another component that will separate each unrolled surfaces and laballed them ?

Thank you very much

for unwinding a curve just you need the length of the curve with this data point that distance it travels and a final line is created between these two points.

Thereby, a straight line with the same length of the initial curve is obtained.
