Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

How do you animate a GH model with Bongo.
The problem i see is the baked model doesn't feed off of anything outside of rhino when i want to change parameters to give it the video/motion effect.

you can use bongo to animate referenced geometry...
Hi Derek,

I use Grasshopper and Bongo together, but there are limitations. If you are happy with a Rhino viewport rendering than you can use bongo to drive a referenced point, every time the point is moved in Rhino GH will update. I use it like a slider where at frame 0 it starts at the origin and then ends at say 99 mm away at tick mark 99. This allows you use the distance from the origin as an indicator as to when in the animation you want things in GH to happen.
This method does not allow for proper renderings using VRAY or even Rhino Renderer, so for this I would use the renderAnimation component that will bake/render/delete every time it is updated. http://www.giuliopiacentino.com/grasshopper-tools/

Hope this helps

Hello,

I attmepted to use giulio piacentino´s engine but got stuck on the actual steps to make it work. I wasn´t able to get his final two examples to render or move. Could someone who has gotten it to work, post a list of steps to help us.

thank you
Alex
It doesn't look like he has updated the component since v43 was released all the Explicit History (EH) references need to be changed to GH. Try this file instead:
Files are updated for version 0.6.43 now,
