Did you download the 32-bit version as GH is a 32-bit application? Filename: vcredist_x86.EXE
Got it, that was the problem. Thanks alot.

Hello out there,

good to hear that you could make it run.

In fact I've got the same problem here.

After installing grasshopper_wip_20110705b few days ago the attached message popped up.

Downloading Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (vcredist_x86.exe) and installing grasshopper_wip_20110730 did not help.

Same error message. My PC is running Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit.

What else can I do to make GH run?

Are you using Rhino v5? If so is it the latest version?

No, it's rhino 4.0 SR9.

What are the options for making GH run then?

Did you try installing the 64-bit version as well: vcredist_x64.EXE

Installed vcredist_x64.EXE as well but the error message still is popping up.

Any more ideas?

I just had this problem, check if you are installing the 2010 or 2005 Microsoft Visual C++

I installed both 2005 and 2010, I installed the 2010 first, and it did not work, afterwards I installed 2005 and all was good!

2005 is http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26347

2010 is http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555

Downloading Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (vcredist_x86.exe) and installing grasshopper_wip_20110730 did not help.

I think you are right Matthew

Hi Matthew and Danny,

downloaded and installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 vcredist_x64.EXE and vcredist_x86.EXE additional to the already installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010.

Now at least there was a licence agreement popping up.

When I go help - plugins - grasshopper it transfers me to this website.

Very basic question: how do I start the grasshopper application? There are no visible toolbars or commands now.

Thanks for your help.

type grasshopper into the rhino command line

Thx, This worked for me!
