Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello I have two shapes , one of them is the size of the  rectangular whole I need to make and the other is the surface that needs to have the whole.  I have tried to split the surface but it does not seem to work. I also tried to subtract the curves to see if that would split it but it is not working. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

THANKS in advance!!!

I am not entirely sure what you are trying to do, you have a rectangle and a surface to halve it? It can be a long way around but if you intersect the two with BBX and then use the output curve to split the rectangle you will end up with what you want, lastly you'll want ti put some condition into the definition to select which half you want to keep.

Hi Melissa, sounds like you want to use a List Item after the SrfSplit (and leave the i set to the default 0), for instance.

I am not sure what i am doing wrong... i can not seem to get it to trim... I have extruded it to see if it would delete it but it did no work.

Here is the definition i used to try to trim the curve.

What i need to do is remove the area that is show in blue from the red area. I was able to select the roof and create the rectangle shown in blue but I do not know how completely remove it.. If someone  could please help me that would be great because i am desperate ... THANK YOU

Melissa, what is coming out of your 'RDiff' component? That whould be the shape you are looking for. Can you take a screenshot of that result?

I am not sure what you mean by what is coming out of the Rdiff component here is a screenshot of the file

I have tried to do preview after the Rdiff but i do not see any difference.

here is a screenshot of the model with the rdiff on and the rectangle on.. but I thought that i would actually be able to see an opening on the roof.

would'nt you use solid difference or trim solid?

So just extrude the blue rectangle downward the same height as the red then do solid difference.
