LINE (aka "Jose Bras Alves"),

No one is going to help you as you are asking others to do your work for you. After working with you this past winter and following your various comments on this forum and others, it is clear that you expect others to donate their time to your research. Although the Grasshopper forum is very generous, you are on the verge of spamming this forum with your pleas for help. You must give back to the community if you expect it to support you.

I absolutely agree.

(though I'd say he has gone beyond the verge of spamming, and in fact this is worse than the posts about handbags and free iPads, because at least those can be quickly recognised and ignored, whereas this wastes the time and patience of other forum members).

This LINE / Jose Bras Alves character has in the past sent me private messages and emails demanding help with Grasshopper questions, but he really stepped over the line today - he had somehow tracked down my phone number ( I do not know this person ), and rang me, at home, on a Saturday and started asking me Grasshopper questions !!!

I like to think I'm a pretty calm guy, but this makes me ****ing mad.

I'm amazed by the patience and helpfulness of the members of this community, but think we need to draw the line somewhere when people are just being parasitic.

Daniel,

Jose/LINE did the same to me this past winter. I even did a bit of "paid" work for him but then he never paid me. Even after not paying me, he continued to call me at nights, weekends, repeated emails, etc. asking for more help! He's pathetic. I wonder if there is a way to ban an ip number on this site? Definitely a parasite.

...

edit: Actually, I just discovered the "Report and Issue" link at the bottom of the page and reported Jose/LINE to the Scott. Hopefully Scott can disable his account.

Andrew

Andrew, Daniel,

It looks like I am too a member of this unfortunate club. I have helped mr Bras Alves last year with his offset definitions, exchanged a ton of e-mails, patiently directed him to protugese websites, manuals, forum posts, etc. - to no avail, of course...
I also received unexpected phone calls, even though I'd precisely ask him not to call me!

I've always thought that the 'patience and helpfulness' of the forum members is one of it's greatest assets. I really hope that the incidents this person is causing won't change this.

Best regards,

Jacek

I banned him after Daniel and Andrew complained. It is to my knowledge the fourth time in McNeel history anyone got banned from support and the first time in Grasshopper history. Let's hope the frequency remains this low.

I'm a card carrying member of this club too. But I don't think you guys know the rules.

The first rule of LINE club: You do not talk about LINE club!

The second rule of LINE club: You DO NOT talk about LINE club!

Third rule of LINE club: if someone yells "stop!", goes limp, or taps out, the help is over.

Fourth rule: only two guys to a dialogue.

Fifth rule: one dialogue at a time, fellas.

Sixth rule: the dialogues are handled in the forum. No PMs, no emails, no telephone calls!

Seventh rule: Dialogues will go on as long as they have to.

And the eighth and final rule: if this is your first time at LINE Club, you have to help.

I was going to lock this discussion, now I'm glad I didn't.
