Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

HI:  the V5 wip and grasshopper 8.000.10 don't seem to recognize the HS plugin.  I've dragged the GHA into the component folders of both V5 64 and 32.  Everything seems to work correctly under V4.

Hi Al,

Try locating the hoopsnake gha file, and right click on it and select properties, and if there is an unblock button click on it.  When you next start Rhino and Grasshopper it should be available (if you've checked the rhino command window when starting Grasshopper there should be a warning message if I am advising correctly).

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks Jon:  Windows 7 won't let me Unblock the GHA.  Clicking the button and apply does nothing.

Is this a user account with Admin rights?  The other option to try is start Grasshopper, run the rhino command GrasshopperDeveloperSettings and tick the COFF loading (if it is unticked).  Either of these steps has allowed me to run plugins after seeing failure to load in v5 as you have reported.

HI Jon:  If I run V5 (64 in this case) with COFF ticked and running under administrator I could evoke the sphere along curve GH script.  There were I/O errors of course.

Just running under admin privs doesn't work.

Running without admin privs with COFF ticked works.

This condition doesn't arise with various other GHAs such as Kangaroo, etc.  What are the issues that cause this?  Just Curious.

I don't know exactly, but for some time to run my plugins there was a need to untick COFF loading when using Rhino v5 64 bits.  Subsequently, there have been changes made to Grasshopper (or Rhino) that does not seem to require this, but an existing installation of my plugins will have already changed this setting (future builds for brand new installations will have this deactivated unless I need to revert).

Maybe one of the McNeel gurus can shed more light on this.

Thanks: In the meanwhile it's nice to have a recursive function as an alternative to writing scripts.  Makes fractal surfaces and algorithmic refinement a little easier.
