Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I've been having trouble offsetting multiple geometries in a few definitions that I have been messing with lately.. I wasn't sure if anyone else is having this problem or if anyone has any suggestions.

The problem area is highlighted in orange.  I am trying to offset the lines of each triangle then reconnect the start and end points, so they make flat hexagons on the face of the original surface.  Right now some of my lines in the list are offsetting to the inside while the rest offset correctly to the outside.  These lines are also appear to be not offsetting on the specified plane (from the triangles).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.  I haven't been working with GH long and I've just started playing with patterns from surfaces.

Hey!
here you go. You just have to link the start again to your lofted curves (I used a rhino surface).

Your Problem was to offset to far in the opposite direction. But have a look at the file. Questions are welcome :-)

Thank you,

This does allow all the lines of the triangle to offset along the right plane, but I was trying to offset them each of the lines that make up the triangle individually, thus leaving space between them (like the few that occur along the edges of your def).  Then I connect the start and end points of each line back together so that the triangles turn into irregular hexagons.

Thank you for again for your input!

mh, ok!

what about this one?

Thanks Dedackelzucht!

Very elegant solution!!!

Ok, so I took your scaling solution and instead of using the closest point to construct the hexagons, I used scale again from the lines center points.  It looks great.  Thanks for the help, I couldn't have done without.

cool, looks good!

I would put now an attractor instead of the shape slider. I like the form changing between 0 and 1 :-)

Nice Work!

Best regards

I've been having the same issue. Also the offset module does not seem to like negative values. I haven't been using grasshopper since the 6.xxxxx builds so maybe I'm missing something...
