algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone
I can just say wow on what I see here and how fast Grasshopper is growing. The community rocks!
I'm studying on the realtion between nature>mathematics>structure>architecture for my master thesis. The goal was something like structural optimization and I was planing to work on the combination of parametric modeling and genetic algorithms for Grasshopper ( University of Michigan has done this for GC-Staad pro!) and I took a smile when I heard about the galapagos! This added tool will help me work on my case studies easier! I'm really impressed by the discussions as there are plenty of good links here.
Is there anyone who has worked on this topic as i'm going to use mathematica, rhino and sap2000(or maybe strand!) for my optimization. Any suggestions here is greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming you've come across my blog, http://geometrygym.blogspot.com given your license request.
I (and a user) have been running tests lately connecting GH, Oasys GSA and Galapagos. I've interest for the same thing with SAP, and will be meeting Strand7 soon so these will follow. Will be posting some examples on this topic soon.
Cheers,
Jon
I definitely did! Your Plugins are outstanding, Thanks! I downloaded the Sap2000 & Strand one,a big help. Cool, I think Oasys will blow the others as it's the best parametric capabale software out there! (I belive in that!). That's exactly what I think for Sap. I thought using the excel output of Sap result tables and send it back to do some process in Grasshopper to show the user how much the overall stresses have changed by changing the geometry. Galapagos is similar to the ParaGen software developed by Peter Von Beulow (Michigan Uni.). They have worked on a paper with TuDelft and explained two case studies of combining parametric modeling with GA. The future of design will count on these developements in computational architecture for sure.

Yep, professor Mandelbrot from Yale uni! RIP 4ever. he really made a revolution in mathematics and as a consequence in engineering. I love fractals! Thats why I'm giving a chapter of my thesis to this topic!
Welcome to
