algorithmic modeling for Rhino

It is possible to affirm that the second order analysis in Karamba can be trusted as a good aproximation of a non-linear analysis like the B's coeficcient method in ASCE Standards?

Thanks in advance,

Dear Márcio,

the second order theory analysis in Karamba is exact under the assumption of small displacements. For beams numerical inaccuracies arise with increasing ratio of normal force NII to bending stiffness EI. In such cases one should switch to truss elements.

At the heart of the method lies a power series integration of the differential equation for the beam under large normal force. For details see 'H. Rubin and K. J.  Schneider, Baustatik Theorie I. und II. Ordnung, 3rd edition, Werner Verlag, 1996'. Sadly there is no English version of the book available.

Best,

Clemens
