Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All,

I have a grid with small cylinders (representing structure) being extruded from the grid points. Currently the extrusion height of these cylinders is based on the distance of each grid point to an attractor. Instead, I want to set up the definition so that the extrusion height moves up a set distance moving away from the attractor.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I have attached my files below.

Thanks in advance,

Hue

By set distance do you mean increment???

maybe this?

Hi Marios,
Thanks for your reply! By 'set distance' I mean that the extrusion height of each cylinder increases by the same amount each time as they move away from the attractor. e.g. the total height grows from 1 to 1.5 to 2 to 2.5 moving up 0.5 units each time.

Is this how you have set up your definition? It looks like a great help to me regardless.

Yeap. that's right. I have set up a slider to do this. in the snapshot the increment is 0.1 m but you change it to whatever value you like..

Brilliant. Thanks for your help!

Hi Marios,

If I wanted to extrude a group of surfaces based on an attractor point, can I do the same as above using the extrude command and take the attractor point as the direction for extrusion?

Hi,

I've been working with this definition and I am trying to do two things.  One, I'd like to add multiple attractor points.  Two, is there a way to set a vertical limit on the extrusion while still keeping the controlled stepping with the cylinders?  Has anyone attempted or has successfully achieved this?

Thanks,

Stanley

I want to do the same! Did you find a solution?

Thanks Lukas
