algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I made a few changes... quite a few! I fixed the normal vector problem by using the mid-point instead of the start point, though end point works too. The start points are off the surface in the cut top section.
I can't remember all the other changes I made (extrude instead of loft)... I internalized the surface and edge curve I used.
I may have picked the wrong curve (of three in the Rhino file) to use in the blue group? I don't understand the intent or reasoning behind the reference and wonder why the blue group is used instead of a simple slider?
And then, looking at the 'SubSrf' results and how the vertical sections are shorter at the bottom and taller at the top, I wonder if regular horizontal intervals would be preferred?
By the way, since I used 'Pull' to effectively cut the vertical lines, the start points will work now, as well as the mid and end points.
