algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all,
I've looked at David's webcast and know how to sample an image for brightness using a grid of points to obtain what could be used as Z data, however I'm not sure what function I should feed that Z data into to yield something like Rhino's heightfield.
I'm guessing GH can produce something more contralable, but I'm new to this and am not sure which function to look for. Does anyone have any ideas or sample GHX files?

I'm intrigued by your GH definition, but still haven't found what I'm looking for.
Both your GH and Rhino's Heightfield function are too weak / slow for my job, since I need to transform a very high resolution image into a 3d mapping texture into Rhino.
Probably Rhino is not the right tool for the job ?
What software is being use - for example - to produce these:

I have tried with Heightfield, but my PC crashes... too high resolution is needed for this details
Rhino doesn't support voxel geometry so if you really want to have shapes (as opposed to just bump/displacement textures) then meshes are your only choice in Rhino. Meshes with several million faces are do-able, but there will be a limit.
Are you using 64-bit or 32-bit Rhino? You could consider switching to 64-bits before you start looking at other software packages.
