Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi i have a question about calculating the minimum distance between two points along a given set of (not joined) curves.

basically, two houses on each end of a sample kinked street. and placing a shop in the middle. since these 3 buildings cannot be on the street, i drew a line for each of them to connect them to the road.

how do i calculate the two distances red and blue so that i can calculate the total walking distance for the houses. Assuming i will add more shops and houses later on.

Thanks

Using graph theory and shortest path algorithms. In Grasshopper you might use Shortest WalkSpiderWeb, or NetworkX (using GHPython).

This is a way using "Shortest Walk".
