No, it should accept strings.  Will check the code and let you know...

I've not used gHowl in a while and seem not to be able to import Excel data from c:\data\text.xls into Grasshopper. What am I missing? Something to do with Grasshopper 0.8.0007?

 i am having the same prob , i have openoffice installed... but its not detecting it. i have win7 n office xp.
