Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I'm actually learning grasshopper thanks to different tutorials on the web.

I have managed it well so far, but previously i had some difficulties in the understanding of some. Maybe because i don t have the prerequi-tools to understand it

As i know nobody around me who use it i m coming here in order to ask you some help.

You ll find below the link of the tutorial

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TFrz2eWyB0

I have many questions about this one but here is my first question:

Could you please explain me why we need to connect the points of the hexagon grid to the move component after having connected them to the XZplan.

I thought connecting them to the xz plan was enough.

Thank you for your help

Can you specify the time in the video which you are talking about? No one is gonna watch 35 minutes to find what you mean :D

Hi thank you for your answer :)

it s in the 17:50min.

I have others questions about this tutorial;

but

I m completly lost after the 21:40 minutes

i don t understand what he is doing

21:40he mutiply the length of the hexagon then in 22:20 he uses a decompose xyz component,  and use a multiplication and a division

But i don t understand why he does that and in which purpose...

could anyone explain me please?...

To understand what is going on you need to study data trees. By connecting the points of the hexagon grid to the move component the other geometries are generated inside the position of each hexagonal grid cell.

thank you very much it was very helpfull!
