Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone,

Hope all of you are fine.

My doubt is that I can't create a polygon (in my case, an hexagon) using a desired area, for example, want a 1m2 hexagon, but the tutorials I see didn't help too much, in fact I use an example given by @Martina Rossi (see attach image), but when I already do, an error occurs saying (in scale box) that can't divide value by zero.

I don't know why because I just following the same steps than Martina Rossi, please if someone could help me could be great, I just need to tell I'm new using Grasshopper, so please be patient with me I'm not very familiarised by the tool :)

Greetings,

Fernando A.

you need to feed the srf in the G input of the scale component, at the moment you are feeding the centerpoint in.

Thank you very much! I try your method and seems to work, but a second hexagon appears :S I don't know why but you help me. Thank you for you help! :) had a great week!

turn the polygon component preview off.

Don't you just want to scale by sqrt(target area/current area) ?

Thank you, I try your method but I get lost in the way lol but maybe you are right, I will practice more and then I will notice you!

Hi.

Check this. Best.

Hey! Thank you very much for your time and your help, I do this at your same way and works, perfectly works, I only had one question more (if its possible), how I delete or only get one hexagon to work on it, I mean when I try the method of scale a second hexagon appears, how I can delete it? Because I only need the scaled. Again thank you very much, very kind of you for your help.

You seem to have a misunderstanding of GH.
You know that GH's former name was "Explicit History"? Because it was a different approach to Rhino's native "implicit" history feature.
In GH, if you erase what you want(the very first polygon component), the whole code won't work.
There's nothing you can do about erasing the first polygon but to turn off the preview of parts you don't want and just you can only turn on the preview of the part you want.
