Karamba - Opticrosec error - Cross sections need to be bigger than their biggest family member.

Hello,

I have an issue with the Optimise Cross Section component in Karamba. I am trying to create a grid of circular hollow sections which are optimised in diameter and thickness according to their proximity to the supports provided. However, the component 'opticrosec' gives me the following error:

"213 Cross Sections need to be bigger than their biggest family member".

I have looked at previous issues posted by others and have done many iterations to my definition but still haven't managed to resolve the problem. Several posts indicated that the problem could be solved through the 'MaxUtil' / 'MaxDisp' settings of the component; redefining the domains of the input cross sections; removing overlapping beams. However, as I am new to Karamba, I cannot find what the problem is in this definition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Stathis

Hello Stathis,

define your own family of cross sections. Then you can choose the largest cross section as big as necessary.

See e.g. the example 'OptiCroSec_UserDefinedBeamFamily.gh' from the Karamba examples (...\Rhinoceros 5.0 (64-bit)\Plug-ins\Karamba\Examples\TestExamples\Optimize_Cross_Section\).

Best,

Clemens
