algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Is there a switch that can turn live updates on and off within Grasshopper?
i.e. so that new layers that are connected to pipelines - or any change in the rhino environment does not need computing as changes are made?
I know many ways that organisational behaviour that can make me do this but, I wonder if a big switch which enables the entire GH window to be reactivated could be good...? Then I cant accidentally set GH off in the wrong direction when modelling? (An auto on an Off maybe?)

Right-click on canvas > lock solver.
You can disable/enable the Grasshopper solver using the menu point "Solution -> Disable Solver", F6 key or via the radial menu (space/middle-mouse button).
Thanks guys.
I was after Rhino timing me and asking: "would you like me to update grasshopper now sir?"
p.s.
Can we get clusters to update with the rhino geom changes when editing them?
+1 for your p.s. - I have been waiting for this so long. I hate having to always leave clusters and go inside again, just to get updated geometry. By the way clusters work you can tell they were never meant for organising files into larger chunks of nested clusters, which is a real shame, as I prefer working like that when files get larger. Maybe in GH2!?
this is a good use case for data dams. usually it is not the live update itself which is slow, it's the downstream solving - so if you put a data dam in between your "live updating" component and whatever is slow, you can decide when to trigger the remaining parts of the solution.
