algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello all,

I have this curved surface which I managed to divide into similar rectangular panels with squared corners. What I want to do is to insert squares on every panel with parallel side to the rectangle´s sides (as if I did an offset of the rectangles but in this case I want squares). I don´t mind if the gaps in between the square panels vary but I want them to be parallel.

The problem I am facing is that they are parallel in the center of the surface but as we approach the edges it rotates and it is not parallel. Find the attached definition.

Anybody has any idea how to do that? Many thanks!

Hi.

If you know what the faces look like, then you'll realize that your requirements are contradictory.

They are not planar and the edges are not parallel. You might be able to select one of the edges to place the square parallel, but would that be what you are after?

Hi Hyungsoo,

Thank you very much for your reply! Actually I made specifically the surfaces planar (check script re) but you are right they are not squared angled!!

So seen this I would be happy if only one side is parallel to the edges. How could I do this?

It's not difficult to adjust the surface frames parallel to one side of the edges.

Thank you very much again!!!
