Image sampler - externalizing inputs

Feature request on the Image Sampler Component:

I have a definition in which I need to reuse the same Image Sampler component (same file path / domain / tiling settings) but each time with different input points (in my case, different sets of uvP from SrfCP components).

In my current workflow, I need to copy and paste the Image Sampler component for each instance, such that if I need to update the referenced image file, I need to do so in each instance. Ideally, the component would have additional inputs: 1) Referenced image file; 2) X Domain; 3) Y Domain; 4) Tiling; and 5) Channel

Am I missing another way of achieving this? Technically I could put the component in a cluster by itself, but that wouldn't allow unique inputs, if desired, as described in #1-5 above.

I agree that the ability to programmatically configure components as you suggest is a great idea. However, if it's the domain you want to change, just set the 'Image Sampler' domains to the default '0 to 1', then use 'Remap' from the source domain to that one.

Oh, by the way, you'll want to 'Reparameterize' your surfaces so that uv point values are in the '0 to 1' domain.

You're absolutely right, both in that it would be really useful and in that it currently isn't possible.

No, it will not be added to Grasshopper 1.0 at all. GH2 will feature bitmaps as a native data type, making this sort of stuff much more straightforward.
