algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all!
First of all, big thanks to the developers for all the efforts! I think this is a great idea to be implemented in Grasshopper.
I have tried to use the sample file, but I am getting an error when the components try to download the data from Openstreet. I have tried lowering the radius and modifying the location, but nothing seems to make it work.
Is there something I am missing?
Thank you in advance!
Rafael

Okay.
Close your Grasshopper and Rhino.
Try to right-click on Rhino 5 icon and then choose: "Run as administrator". Once Rhino boots up, run Grasshopper and open again the Rafael_downloadFile2.gh from this post.
What do you get then from readMe! output?
Hi Rafael,
Please forgive me for not replying back during the last couple of days.
I waited to see if I will get any other suggestion from the ironpython mail list. Sadly I didn't.
The only information I got is that maybe something is wrong with your Windows 10 permissions system.
Can you try the following: Go to your c: partition, and right click on your "gismo" folder, then choose "Properties". Then pick the "Security" tab, and click on on "Advanced". A new window will appear. Is there "Administrator..." listed among the "Permissions Entry"? If it is, can you click on it, and then click on "View". Like this:
Can you then post a screenshot of the new window that opens afterwards (named: "Permissions Entry for gismo")?
Also would it be too difficult if you could repeat the same process and post a screenshot for the "c:/gismo/osm_files" folder, as well?
Hi,
Yes, he is using Windows 10 too, in a MacBook with Bootcamp. I do not think this is the reason, but just in case.
No worries, I am going to keep trying, as I am having similar issues with the installation of another plugin for Grasshopper, which seems to be somehow related. I agree that it has to be something related to my operating system permissions, or firewall or similar, but so far we have checked all these.
I will be around here in case I manage to fix it, or you get further inputs from the ironpython forum. Thanks again for all the support!
Rafael
Hi Djordje,
No problem at all! It seems that there might be something messed up in my system, because a friend installed it recently without any problem.
Still, I'd glad to keep testing it until we find the solution. Probably it will also help future users :)
I have checked the permissions for both folders, everything seems to be fine, but I am not very sure on what we were looking for. This are the screenshots, I hope they help.

Hi Rafa,
Thank you again for provided information and your effort!
If you are logged in as an Administrator, then as you noticed: everything is fine with "c:\gismo" and "c:\gismo\osm_files" folders. They have all the required permissions.
Sorry to say, but I am out of ideas. I do not know what to try anymore. For some reason your operating system is not allowing files to be downloaded. I have no idea why is that. If I get any additional reply from the ironpython mail support, I will let you know.
Just this more: Which operating system does your friend have? Windows 10 too?
What is that other plugin you are having troubles with, and which specific troubles?
For sure I will let you know if I get any kind of help on this!
I am having problems with Butterfly, more specifically with the installation. It tries to connect to the server to download the libraries but it fails too. It cannot connect either.
Thank you!
Rafael
Hi Rafa, Do you get some specific message when download of Butterfly libraries fails?
Welcome to
