algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Shuwei,
the Karamba manual can be downloaded from http://www.karamba3d.com/downloads/ or http://www.food4rhino.com/app/karamba. In case you do not change the default values of the material-component you will get steel with fy=23.5[kN/cm²].
The material properties of MDF can be found here: http://www.makeitfrom.com/material-properties/Medium-Density-Fiberb.... There it is mentioned that the tensile strength is 18MPa, the compressive strength 10MPa. The latter corrresponds to 1.0[kN/cm²]. Karamba 1.2.2 assumes that the material strength in tension and compression is the same. So choosing 1.0[kN/cm²] for the yield strength is on the safe side.
What is not mentioned on the website cited above is the safety factor to be applied on the material side.
Best,
Clemens
