algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone !
I am trying to constitute hexagonal grid that each extruded hexagonal cell can close and open by triangle surfaces ( that works like camera lens). It seems so easy but i cant solve it and untill tomorrow I should handle with it. I m sure it will not take your time. I explained it on rhino file.
I would be really grateful if you help for me :)

Thank you so much ! It was helpful, but that i want to make is the system which works on 3d hexagonal extruded form like the rhino file i've sent. As i'm new to grasshopper, i cant create code easily for this moment.

Sorry did not have a chance to download your Rhino file before i posted.
Updated code attached, it still has Duplicate surfaces as each hex is extruded, this can be solved with Cull Duplicate lines in Kangaroo but did not want to start adding components from plug-ins to the code.
Though as Martyn says this will only be buildable with a stretchable material in the real world.
Sorry for late reply and thanks a lot for attached codes. These are quite enough for my process. I want to try it in real life but as you told with stretchy materials.

In your diagram the triangular flaps of the iris actually change shape when they move from open to closed. This is not really possible in real life unless they are made from some elastic material.
Are you trying to create an iris where the triangles remain the same shape and just rotate around a hinge?
Attached is a definition that does what your second image describes.
If that's what you need then all good.
If you want to make one then have a look at some of the iris definitions and figure out how you want the flaps to move! It's usually just a case of rotating triangles or shapes but it gets much more complicated if you want them to slide with a perfect fit!

As you told, it seems like "Iris". In fact, my aim is creating a façade with this three dimentional hexagon components related to orientation of sun, which start to close when the sun's rays comes in perpendicular to the shape. I want it work parametrically with the sun in Grasshopper.
It's a bit complicated for me but I would like to make it in real life as well by using some elastic materials maybe like lattex for triangle pieces, and in order to work it automatically I should use some motors,sersors etc.
